Casting

The casting process was easier compared to some of the other previous steps that we have had to do.

Murderers:
Tom - We used tom because he was available, liked the plot and had the right act for our character. He was good because Tom took the acting seriously and listened to our directions
Jack - We didn't use jack because he didn't like the plot line that we had planned out and therefore didn't come to turn up at the shootings or rehearsals.
Chris - We didn't use chris as he wasn't the right body type for out murder, he was too skinny and didn't look evil enough too commit murder.

We dressed Tom in all black and got him to keeps much of his body covered while still looking unprofessional. We had to buy a black shirt with minimal drawing/design on the front as all the ones that he had, had prominent graphics on the front.

Victims:
Robson - We used Robson because he has a baby face with the round features needed to create a more innocent looking character. The clothing that was used, a light blue polo shirt, also emphasised the child like demeanour that we wanted him to have.
Finley - Finley was too young to understand how important this was to our subject course and therefore wasn't fit to act the part or take directions.
Sam - We couldn't use sam because he wasn't available when we went to film and he wasn't able to change his calendar to fit us in.

Robson was dressed in a baby blue polo is give him a more innocent look. Baby blue has connotations of innocence and purity because of how often it is brought and used for small children and babies. Tis makes the audience have more sympathy and pain for when Robson is murdered because they think of how young and sweet he was even though he never talked.

Location

We had the idea of 'The Deep End' because we knew someone who had a swimming pool in their house. Our parents new the elderly couple, and so gave us there phone number. After a long phone call, we managed to organise a time and date in which we could use their swimming pool, which was very nice of them. We then had a few text messages to check the pool is still available for us to use so we can make sure we are properly organised.

Font

THE DEEP END

NAMES/information

These are the fonts that we will be using for the opening scene. The first one will be used for the film title, the deep end, on the wall as the camera pans up after the murder. The words will fade in and will fade out after the screen has gone black. The writing will be white so it is contrasting to the wall and stands out.

The second one will be used for information such as producer or editor and there names of who did that. The text will flicker in an out and shift positions slightly as it does this.
